Missing student-athlete found dead in Wisconsin
Kaelin O'Neal of Johnston County was found dead on the campus of Lakeland University in Wisconsin.

HOWARDS GROVE, Wisconsin (WTVD) -- An 18-year-old student from the Wendell area reported missing in Wisconsin has been found dead.

Kaelin O'Neal graduated from Corinth Holders High School where he was a standout football player and was in his first semester at Lakeland University in Howards Grove.

He was a backup quarterback for the university's football team, according to a spokesman for the university.

O'Neal was last seen on campus December 11 by his roommate. Family members told ABC11 O'Neal left behind his cell phone and wallet.

He was found deceased in a pond located on Lakeland University's property by a dive team according to a statement from the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office.

The death is under investigation. Deputies said there were no signs of foul play.

"We're hurting at the loss of our loved one, especially right here at the holidays but our faith in God and the strength of our family will get us through. We ask that you keep us in your prayers," cousin Portia Lee told ABC11.
