An emergency errand to a drug store turned into an emergency rescue for a puppy in North Carolina.

Out of all places, it was found trapped in the engine compartment of a car.

Robin says she heard a little puppy whine coming from a car in the parking lot.

Robin, who is a welding instructor at Surry Community College, decided to call a colleague for backup.

"One of the welding students came down with his tools and we got the battery and battery box moved," she said.

"I didn't believe it at first, but Robin told me it was down in there," the student said.

The pair pulled the sweet puppy from the car, saying it was lucky the dog didn't get pulled into the motor on the serpentine belt.

The owner of the car doesn't have pets and didn't know how the pup got there, but believes it was stuck for at least 45 minutes.

A student in Robin's class plans to give the puppy a forever home, naming her "Excalibur" after the brand of welding rods they use in class.
