RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Raleigh police have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of 24-year-old Travis Rhodes.
Authorities say 30-year-old Rashand Nicholas Fitts turned himself in Monday and has been charged with first-degree murder.
Shortly before midnight Saturday, officers found a vehicle that had crossed a median and come to rest in the 3400 block of Capital Boulevard.
When they opened the door, they discovered Rhodes shot in the torso.
He was rushed to WakeMed where he later died.
Fitts was not the man seen in the surveillance photo released Sunday. That person, who has been identified, was associated with Fitts shortly before the shooting incident occurred. He has not been charged in connection with Rhodes' death.
Fitts will be transported to the Wake County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
