Two pedestrians killed in Moore County

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two people were hit and killed by a car in Moore County early Sunday morning.

It happened on U.S. Highway 1 in Southern Pines just before 1 a.m.

Police said Richard Panarra and Michael Napolitano died at the scene.

Both men were from Jackson, New Jersey and were staying at a local hotel. They were in town for a motorcycle event in Rockingham.

The driver of the car was not hurt.

No charges have been filed against the driver.

The highway was closed for almost three hours while authorities investigated.
