Fayetteville police investigate two fatal accidents

FAYETTEVILLE

At approximately 7:45 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to Bragg Boulevard near Clover Street in reference to a pedestrian struck by a car.

A Dodge Dakota driven by William Brown, 65, struck a female pedestrian walking in the road on Bragg Boulevard. The victim was identified as Rita K. Jones, 53. She died a short time later.

No charges have been filed. The investigation continues.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. the same night, officers responded to a single vehicle accident on Raeford Road near Old Raeford Road.

The driver, Ryan Morris, 22, of Raeford died at the scene. His passenger, Sabrina Strouth, 24, of Hope Mills was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. She was airlifted to UNC Chapel Hill. Her current condition is not known at this time.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Hyundai driven by the victim was traveling southbound on Raeford Road when the driver lost control of the car, ran off the road, struck a guardrail and came to rest in a ravine.

The investigation is ongoing.
