Police looking for suspect in Durham shooting

DURHAM

Durham police are trying to locate Johnathan Kevin Carter, who has been charged in Saturday's shooting death of 16-year-old Jalani Ferril on Roberson Street. Carter, 21, of Maple Street is wanted for one count of murder and a probation violation.

Officers responded to a shooting call in the 100 block of Roberson Street shortly after 4 p.m. When they arrived, they found Ferril in the road, shot. He was taken to Duke University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to investigators, the shooting does not appear to be random.

Two males were seen running from the scene. No charges have been filed at this time.
