Charges dropped against UNC football assault suspect

Two people charged with sexually assaulting three UNC football players will stand trial but will face fewer charges.

Friday the judge also threw out all charges against the third alleged assailant.

The decision came following testimony from two of those football players at a probable cause hearing. They claim 32-year-old Michael Lewis, 28-year-old Monique Taylor and 29-year-old Tnika Washington conspired to kidnap, assault and rob them last month.

Lewis still faces kidnapping, robbery, conspiracy and larceny charges.

Taylor is still charged with kidnapping and sexual assault, but Washington has been cleared of all charges because her alleged victim did not show up to testify and no other evidence was presented against her.
