Beverly Black, 45, was arrested and charged with first degree murder in the death of 42-year old Terrance Anthony Brockington. Brockington's body was found lying on the front lawn of his home on North Mitchely Street around 8 p.m. Sunday night. Investigators say a dispute between Black and Brockington led to the crime.
Brockington's body was transported via ambulance to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he later died. An autopsy will be conducted by the State Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill to determine the exact cause of death.
Black is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. She is expected to make a first court appearance Monday.
