Fayetteville Police are questioning a man they say led police on a chase for several miles before crashing in a wooded area Thursday morning.

According to Fayetteville Police spokesperson, Jamie Smith, the Fayetteville 911-dispatch center received a call about a stolen Cadillac in the 400-block of Murchison Road around 10 a.m. Police say the person who witnessed the theft was following the suspect in another car and told police where they were.

When an officer spotted the car matching the description, the suspect drove off. The officer caught up with the car on Whitfield Street where the suspect made a U-turn and drove toward Robeson Street. The suspect then lost control of the car and crashed into a wooded area on Robeson Street.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was transported to Cape Fear Valley for treatment of minor injuries.

Charges are pending.
