Two injured in separate shootings in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE

The first shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. Police say Timothy Bryant, 25, was shot when he and his friends were approached in the parking lot of a movie theater in the 1900-block of Skibo Road.

Bryant told police he was sitting in the back seat of a car with his friends when two men approached the car. When Bryant and his friends would not get out of the car, the suspects fired into the car, shooting Bryant in the leg. He was treated and released from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Robbery is believed to be the motive in that case.

The second shooting happened around 12:30 a.m Friday in the 300-block of Central Avenue. The victim, Curtis Whitted, 66, stepped out of his home and was approached by three men who attempted to rob him at gunpoint. Police say Whitted struggled with at least one of the suspects for the weapon and was shot in the upper torso. Whitted was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with serious injuries though they are not believed to be life threatening.

The suspects were seen leaving the area in a green Mercury Grand Marquis.

Detectives do not believe the shootings are related.

Anyone with information in either of these shooting is asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (910) 483-8477.
