It happened just before 6:30 a.m. on Old Wake Forest Road. Wake County School spokesperson, Ashley Smith says bus #1019 was transporting 31 students to Durant Road Middle School when it was involved in an accident with another car. Smith says the car may have run a red light and hit the bus.
Thirteen students on the bus were transported to two different hospitals. The bus driver suffered hip injuries. Smith says all of the injuries are non-life threatening.
Another bus was dispatched to take the remaining children to school.
Raleigh Police is investigating the accident.
