A man was killed after the SUV he was driving struck an electric pole on south Roxboro Street near Jackie Robinson Dr. around 9:45 a.m.
Officers on the scene say the driver of a 1997 Ford Explorer was traveling in the center northbound lane and swerved across one lane and struck an electric pole in the 400 block of Roxboro.
The driver was pronounced dead at Duke Hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
