Clerk recovering after being shot by robber

Wake Forest Police are looking for a robbery suspect after a clerk was robbed and shot at a convenience store Friday night.

A clerk who was shot is recovering at WakeMed. Store employees say he was doing much better Saturday and is scheduled for surgery Sunday.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Quality Mart on Main Street.

Eyewitnesses pumping gas say a man rushed into the store, stole money out of the cash register and shot the clerk before running off.

Several customers came to the clerk's aide who was transported to WakeMed with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Wake Forest investigators used K-9 units to search for the suspect Friday night along with law enforcement officials from the Highway Patrol and the Wake County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect is described as having dreadlocks and wearing blue jeans and a red jacket, is considered armed and dangerous.
