Authorities need help finding mother's killer

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is requesting assistance from the public in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on March 3.

Silvia Benitez Morales, a 28-year-old Hispanic female, was found dead in her home at approximately 3:45 p.m by family members.

Her 3-year-old son is believed to have been in the house when the murder occurred.

Investigators believe the crime occurred between 1:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on the same date.

Anyone who might have been in the area and might have seen anything that they believe might be pertinent to this case is requested to contact the Wayne County Sheriff's Office at 919-731-1481 or Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.

The sheriff's office has requested that the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation assist in the investigation.

Wayne County Crime Stoppers will pay cash rewards for information that leads to the arrest of persons responsible for this crime.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is offering an additional $3,000.00 reward, above what Crimestoppers pays, for information leading to the arrest of responsible parties.
