Marcus Miller, 32, was arrested Tuesday in Greenville, S.C. by the U.S. Marshall's Fugitive Apprehension Team.
Cumberland County Sheriff's Homicide Detectives say Miller was a recent boyfriend of the child's mother, and had been left in Miller's care at his home while she went to work. The child was found dead in a bedroom at the home on March 8th, 2008. An autopsy report from the State Medical Examiner's Office determined the child died of blows to the head.
Investigators say Miller disappeared before the mother awakened the following morning and took her keys, car, money and a cell phone.
Miller is charged with felony child abuse and first degree murder. He is being held in Greenville, South Carolina pending extradition to Cumberland County to stand trial for his crimes.
