The Wake Forest Police Department has arrested and charged Kendrecus Marquell Williams, 20, in connection with the February 29 robbery and shooting at the Quality Food Mart on South Main Street.

The arrest occurred Tuesday evening after Williams and another man robbed a Handy Hugo's convenience store, on Buffalo Road and then led Wake County Sheriff's deputies on a high speed chase that ended with a car crash in north Raleigh.

According to a Wake County Sheriff's spokesperson, the suspects fled in a car that a deputy spotted almost immediately and tried to stop. The car fled and then crashed on New Hope Road near Capital Boulevard.

One suspect was arrested at the crash scene, while the other man ran. Deputies chased him to a Capital Ford building on Capital Boulevard, where he was arrested inside.

Wake Forest police have charged Williams, of Raleigh, with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.

He faces additional charges in Wake County and Raleigh. Williams is being held in the Wake County jail under $500,000 bond.

"The arrest of Kendrecus Williams was made possible by the cooperation of the Wake County Sheriff's Office and the Raleigh Police Department," said Wake Forest Police Sgt. J. Morris.
