Man robs 80-year-old at gunpoint

Durham police investigators are trying to locate Jeremy Tjaz Cartwright-Sykes who has been charged with robbing an elderly man at gunpoint.

An 80-year-old male told officers he was taking a television set into his house on Guess Road around 4 p.m. on April 4 when Cartwright-Sykes, 20, of Mebane entered his house, walked up behind him and stuck a gun in his back.

Cartwright-Sykes took the victim?s car keys and then tied him up with telephone cord and forced him into a closet. He pushed furniture against the closed closet door before fleeing in the victim?s green 1995 Ford Escort.

The victim was able to get out of the closet and call 911.

Cartwright-Sykes has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. The victim's vehicle has not been found.
