Tornado reportedly causes damage in Wayne County

GOLDSBORO

According to the National Weather Service, a /*tornado*/ damaged a mobile home in the Oakland Community near Goldsboro. No injuries were reported.

There was also a report of downed trees near Belfast and N.C. 17.

The storms affected other southern states Friday before moving into the state.

/*Severe weather*/ also forced hundreds from their homes amid potential flooding east of N.C.

A powerful line of thunderstorms ripped through central Tennessee yesterday, damaging dozens of buildings and leaving at least five people hurt. Officials in Lawrence County, Tennessee, suspect it was a tornado that damaged 56 homes along the Alabama border.

Storms knocked out power across northern Alabama. A roof collapsed at an apartment complex but no one was hurt.

The strong storms also damaged buildings in West Virginia and Kentucky.

Hundreds of people in eastern Arkansas have been evacuated from their homes because of the potential for new flooding along already swollen rivers.

In northern Wisconsin, they've had to gas up the snowblowers again. The region got nine inches of snow yesterday.
