Triangle residents report bear sighting

Authorities say several residents across the Triangle have reported seeing a bear and her cub Sunday.

Officials tell Eyewitness News residents have contacted Wake County, Durham County and Raleigh police about the sightings.

Durham Police Lt. Rickey Padgett says he has been approached by a couple walking their dog who have seen the bear twice and a jogger.

Witnesses say the two bears were seen around Leesville Road, Harrington subdivision, Shady Grove. The animals were mostly spotted around ACC Boulevard area of Brier Creek to Data Corp. They were also seen running behind the Wal-mart and in Brier Creek Gardens.

Authorities are canvassing the area in search of the bears. Wildlife officials are also tracking them.
