Crews repair broken water main

ORANGE COUNTY

An operator says crews were on site since 7 p.m. and will be there for several hours. The water main was repaired around 10 p.m. and crews continued through the night to patch up the roadway.

The cause of the break is unknown, but police say reasons could be the heat, dry land, a sudden change in water pressure or old pipes. The area has had a few breaks in the past.

Authorities say some customers may experience service interruptions because of the work. It is also a possibility repairs could produce discoloration of water in the area.

OWASA says if water is discolored or has air bubbles, run cold water in a bathtub for about 5 minutes. If this does not clear up, call OWASA at 968-4421.
