Callers told emergency dispatchers that they had found a drifting boat near /*Henderson Point*/. A truck and empty trailer had also been left at a boat ramp.
Vance County Sheriff's deputies and state park rangers conducted a ground search with K-9's and dragged the lake.
Crews recovered a man's body in seven to nine feet of water, deputies said. The man's identity has not been released.
Officials could not say if the man had drowned and there is no immediate word on the cause of death.
State park rangers continue to lead the investigation into the man's death.
