KKK carved into Duke campus computer

Duke University Police are investigating a case of vandalism with racial undertones.

A Duke University Medical Center employee found a computer printer with 'KKK' carved on the front and side on Wednesday.

Investigators say the computer printer is located in an area in the hospital where only employees have access. The area has access controls, giving police a record of what employees were working in the area in recent weeks.

"We hope to be able to identify who came and went in that area," said Maj. Gloria Graham with Duke Police,"Regardless of whether we determine it's a hate crime, it's still vandalism."

Maj. Graham said the university is not investigating the incident as a hate crime at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
