Robbery suspect sought by police

RALEIGH At approximately 9:40 a.m. Tuesday a suspect entered the Ace Cash Express on New Bern Avenue.

As the suspect produced a firearm, the on-duty clerk ran to the rear of the store before the suspect was able to announce his intentions. The suspect then fled on foot.

The suspect who entered the business may be the same individual who robbed it at about 3:30 p.m. June 24.

In addition, the store was robbed shortly before 1 p.m. May 23, and the description of the suspect who committed that crime is similar to those given for the June 24 and July 7 incidents.

In each case, the suspect has been described as a black male in his twenties or thirties who stands about 5 feet 8 to 9 inches tall and weighs an estimated 155 to 175 pounds. Sunglasses have been worn in each instance and a firearm has been displayed or implied. Clothing descriptions have varied.

Anyone who believes they might recognize the suspect or who has other information that might assist the investigation of the cases is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department's Detective Division at (919) 890-3555 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 226-CRIME.
