Two-year-old shot in Fayetteville

A toddler is recovering from non-life threatening injuries after being shot Thursday morning.

The shooting happened at a house on Glenallen Road in the Glenn Reilly subdivision located near Fort Bragg.

Several neighbors told Eyewitness News they were shocked to find out about the shooting.

The father of the child reportedly rushed her to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center after she shot herself. She is being treated for a leg wound and abrasions

James Pergerson, 33, told police the toddler shot herself with a shotgun.

Although it is not know what time the shooting occurred, the emergency room staff contacted the police around 8:45 this morning to inform them of the shooting. That when the investigation began.

Apparently the child's father did not call 911 or the police.

No charges have been filed, but the child is going to be OK.

This incident is being treated as an accidental discharge of an unsecured weapon amd detectives are continuing their investigation.
