Police asking for information on shooting

DURHAM A 43-year-old female was getting out of a car on Wabash Street around 1 p.m. when a bullet grazed her neck. She was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment. Police do not believe she was the intended target.

Two occupied vehicles were also damaged by bullets during the incident. One vehicle was struck at Wabash and Dayton streets and the second one was struck at Lawson and Wabash streets.

Investigators are still trying to piece together exactly what happened. According to some witnesses, males in a silver or gray 4-door car with a loud muffler exchanged gunfire with the occupants of a blue vehicle similar to a Nissan Altima. Additional shots may have been fired from a group of males standing on the corner of Wabash and Dayton streets.
