The students will attend their new school for the first time. Sycamore Creek Elementary is opening on Leesville Road just north of I-540.
ycamore Creek first opened for students on a year-round calendar last month, but for the first six weeks of school, students, faculty and staff were housed at Hilburn Drive Elementary.
Monday students returned for the first day of classes.
A special school warming event is scheduled from 5 - 6 p.m. Monday. Parents will have a chance to walk through the building and see the new facility for themselves.
Some added bonuses to the campus are a courtyard with artificial turf.
Students will have their normal bus schedules until September 2. After that, students within 1.5 miles of the school will have to get a ride to school or walk.
