CARY Maria Teresa Herrera-Diaz, 29, of Cary was discovered by her roommates Saturday morning. Sunday police ruled her death a homicide following preliminary autopsy results.

Sunday morning Cary police officers remained on duty at the crime scene outside the home where Hererra-Diaz's roommates found her body Saturday.

Police are asking for help in locating her common law husband, Arnulfo Barron Cobos, who has has been named a suspect in her murder. Officials say he stole a silver 2004 Saturn L-300 with North Carolina license plate number, XWT-5469, from the residence between 4:15 a.m. and 5:15 a.m. There are two similar cars in the driveway at the home --no word on any possible connection with the missing Saturn.

Cobos did not report to work and his whereabouts are unknown. He is described as a Hispanic male, about 50 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, 200 pounds and has a goatee.

"The Police Department is actively investigating this very sad and suspicious situation," said Police Chief Pat Bazemore. "Our thoughts are with Maria's family and friends as they deal with this tragic time in their lives."
