They spent several hours surrounding an apartment building in the 1700 block of Chapel Hill Road, across from the Maplewood Cemetery.

The man accused in the incident is Rey David Acosta Cruz. He allegedly threatened to shoot at least three people, who live in the building.

Officers received a call from Cruz's girlfriend shortly after midnight. She called police from her sister's apartment, which is located across the hall from the apartment she shares with Cruz.

The woman told police she went to her sister's apartment after she and Cruz argued. Cruz then threatened to shoot her, her sister and her sister's husband.

The woman said she heard a gunshot outside her sister's apartment and called police.

Officers evacuated about three dozen people from the Princeton Apartments and then spent hours on the phone with Cruz.
