Power line falls on school bus

High winds caused a school bus to hit a power line Thursday morning.

According to authorities, the pole struck the front of the school bus after it snagged a low hanging power line. The pole broke in half and struck the front on the bus. A DATA bus also hit the power line.

It happened on Old Chapel Hill Rd. near Garrett Road.

Students were intially kept on the bus as a safety precaution until officials were able to determine if the power line was live. The students were safely transported to school on another bus.

Duke Power is working to replace the pole.

The school bus driver was transported to the hospital with minor scrapes from the glass.
