Hearing continues in Cooper custody case

RALEIGH

/*Brad Cooper*/ is trying to regain custody of his two children from the family /*Nancy Cooper*/, his murdered wife.

The ruling may not be made until next week.

During Thursday's testimony both sides presented their case.

A Cary Police detective expected to testify on inconsistencies in Cooper's original statement and a taped deposition taken later, never took the stand. Cooper did not testify either.

But Nancy Cooper's sister told the courtroom she believes Brad Cooper killed her sister and should never see the girls again. Nancy's father also testified and spoke briefly after the hearing.

"One's always hopeful," he said. "But the Judge's decision will be the next thing we comment about."

Meanwhile, Brad Cooper's attorney accused Nancy Cooper's family and their attorneys of speculation and said accusations that Brad killed his wife are unfounded.
