Crews will break ground on /*City Plaza*/ Monday morning following multiple delays.
In June, frustrated city leaders had to legally condemn the land targeted for the plaza because an Atlanta-based firm owned it and negotiations stalled.
City leaders blame the property owner and say they have no other choice and condemning the land was the only way to move forward with the project.
"We've been waiting all this time, so all this extra negotiation is just costing us more money," city council member Rodger Koopman said. The initial price for the project was about $12.5 million.
Now, the estimated price, considering soaring construction costs, is about $14.8 million.
