Durham police investigate traffic fatality

DURHAM The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. Friday when a northbound Toyota SUV driven by Trisha Kaminski, 26, of West Melbourne, Florida struck a pedestrian who was walking west across the northbound lanes of I-540.

The pedestrian, Chico Baldwin, 53, of Liberty, was taken to Duke University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

No charges have been filed. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident.

The accident slowed traffic on I-540 for approximately three hours.
