Man shot, killed by police

SANFORD According to authorities, a disturbance was reported at a convenience store at the intersection of 7th Street and Weatherspoon Street Thursday.

When the officer arrived he was attacked by a man. The officer shot him and he died. The officer received minor injury.

The person shot was a local resident, but police are not able to release his name at this time.

Officials are also not yet releasing the officer's name. As is standard with any officer involved shooting, the SBI was called to the scene to investigate.
