Raleigh polling site was without ballots

RALEIGH

According to a voter who called Eyewitness News, no one delivered ballots to Precinct 16-08 at the Barwell Community Center.

Cherie Poucher of the Wake County Board of Elections says the chief judge for the precinct was dropped off at the Barwell Community Center by her grandson but she forgot to take the ballots out of the trunk of the car.

Officials have not located her grandson and the ballots.

Voting did not start at the precinct until 7:06 a.m. Poucher will ask the Wake BOE to extend voting at the location until 8:06 p.m.

The extension may have to be given to the entire county. Some voters who arrived early at the Barwell location did not vote because they had to leave and go to work.

Tuesday afternoon the BOE approved a time exrension for voting at the Barwell location. The polling site will remain open until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
