Class now required for teens with vehicle violations

JOHNSTON COUNTY, NC

Since the Johnston County District Attorney's Office started "Alive at 25," more than 600 students have taken the class.

The first "Alive at 25" session, sponsored by the Town of Smithfield, will be held November 4. Three more classes are scheduled for November 6, November 18 and December 9.

The 4-hour class was created in response to a high number of teen driver fatalities in Johnston County.

The Town of Smithfield will purchase books for all of its employees' teen drivers who attend. Non-town employees' children will have to pay $5.50 for an instructional book.

For more information or to sign up for the program call Smithfield Town Clerk Debbie Godwin at 919-934-2116 Extension 1108.
