Teens arrested for attempted murder

Fayetteville Police have made three arrests in connection with the attempted murder of a 71st High School student. On Thursday, 16-year old Julius Whitsett was assaulted by two teens and then shot in the neck by another, in the area of Berriedale Drive and Brussels Court.

Whitsett was flown to UNC Chapel Hill for treatment and released late last week.

Keenan Lemar Brown, 18, was arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, and conspiracy to commit assault.

Michael Adam Mathis, 18, was arrested and charged with simple assault, conspiracy to commit assault, and aiding in abetting.

Willie Howard Robinson, 17, was arrested and charged with simple assault, conspiracy to commit assault, and aiding in abetting.

All three suspects are currently being processed at the Cumberland County Jail. There is no bond information available as of this time.
