The controversy started in October 2007. Diana Knight, a friend of Fayetteville Mayor Tony Chavonne was involved in a crash with Jamell Jones.
Jones was injured in the crash and Knight was initially charged with running a red light. After phone calls between Mayor Chavonne, the city manager and the police chief, the ticket was voided.
Jones and knight ended up suing each other. The terms of the settlement will not be released.
