Hope Valley Elementary School was briefly on lockdown Thursday.

The school was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon while police looked for suspect who may have been in the area. It is not know if the suspects have been apprehended.

According to Durham Police, there was a home invasion on Courtney Creek Drive shortly after noon.

An officer stopped the suspects' vehicle and detained one of the them. Several others fled the scene.

Officers searched the area near the school for the suspects who got away. As a precaution, the school was locked down because the suspects reportedly had guns during the home invasion.
