Wolfpack, Tar Heels, and Pirates going bowling

RALEIGH North Carolina State is going bowling for the 24th time in school history. The Wolfpack will face Rutgers in the PappaJohns.com bowl. The game will be played in Birmingham Alabama on December 29. State is the only team in ACC history to lose its first four conference games and then go on to win the last four. Rutgers is also red hot - winning of six straight games.

North Carolina is Charlotte bound. Meineke Car Care Bowl officials wanted the Tar Heels all along. But, they had to wait until the Champs Bowl, which is ahead in the pecking order, officially nabbed Florida State.

The Tar Heels will face West Virginia on December 27. It's a matchup of two 8 and 4 teams. This will be UNC's second trip to the Charlotte bowl. In 2004, North Carolina lost to Boston College.

East Carolina is going to the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. The Pirates face Kentucky January 2.
