Wade Avenue reopens after water main break

RALEIGH Raleigh police say they discovered water gushing from the ground around 3 a.m. City workers say the break is in an 8 inch pipe.

The only way to get at it was to dig up the road, and lanes were closed on Wade Avenue in both directions most of the day.

The road reopened at 6 p.m.

Homes in the area were without water while the pipe was repaired. Service has now been restored to homes off Gardner Street and Anderson Avenue.

There's also an unrelated water main break on Anderson Ave off Six Forks Road that's put 15 to 20 homes without water. That's in a 6 inch pipe.

And there's yet another break at Hobson Court and Wade Avenue. Workers plan to fix all of them.
