The rest stop is located near Benson on the westbound side, just after exit 325.
Investigators cleared the rest stop and started searching for evidence inside the dumpster.
A grounds supervisor at the rest stop says the first shift attendant did not see anything in the trash when he got off of work around 3 p.m.
Detectives have not released information on the identity of the dead man or how long he may have been inside the dumpster at this time.
