When officers arrived, they found a man shot in the leg.
The man, whose name is not being released at this time, was transported to a nearby hospital.
Witnesses at the scene told officers that the shooter ran into a nearby apartment. When Durham Police surrounded the residence, they discovered the apartment was empty.
