Organizations donate musical instruments to schools

RALEIGH, N.C. The instruments are valued at more than $50,000 and are courtesy of a new program sponsored by Fidelity Investments and the North Carolina Symphony.

The two organizations surprised students of Eastway Elementary School in Durham; Underwood and Washington elementary schools in Raleigh; and Chatham Middle School in Siler City.

The 40 instruments were donated to the schools when more than 400 music students, teachers and administrators attended a special symphony performance in Raleigh.

The donation is part of a Fidelity FutureStage, a new music education initiative to support and strengthen music programs in local public schools.
