Auto show attendance breaks record

RALEIGH Officials tell Eyewitness News that since Thursday; more than 22,000 adults have taken in the latest and greatest vehicles on display.

The Convention Center says that since kids are not charged admission to the show, they are not counted in the final attendance tally, but some estimates have at least 5,000 kids attending on Saturday.

    Individual Days Records:
  • Thursday: 3,000 adults -- 140% increase over 2004, the last time the NC International Auto Show was held at the Raleigh Convention Center.
  • Friday: 4,700 adults -- 141% increase over 2004.
  • Saturday: 17,000 adults -- 147% increase over 2004.
Officials suggest that Sunday's attendance may reach 10,000 visitors.

Organizers are more than happy with the turnout, saying that the attendance for the show has broken all records since the Convention Center opened.

A date for next year's NC International Auto Show has not been chosen yet, but that date should be announced in the next two weeks.
