His JV basketball team was running some drills with the varsity squad just before 4 p.m. when it happened.
"As they came back in, got on the baseline getting ready to start practice Anthony collapsed," Hunt Principal Dr. Joe Davis said.Davis said the team had just finished taking a water break when the teen collapsed.
"There were no indicators at all of anything that would have caused us alarm," Davis said. "This is something you would expect to happen in 90 degree humidity hot weather."
According to witnesses, Eatmon seemed fine and was even laughing with teammates just before collapsing. An athletic trainer performed CPS until emergency crews arrived. When Eatmon couldn't be revived, he was immediately taken to Wilson Medical Center.
The school operated on regular hours Tuesday, but counselors are being offered to anyone who needs assistance. His parents were at school talking to the team, but they have requested privacy as they grieve the loss of their son.
Officials are still trying to figure out what caused his unexpected death.
A memorial page has been created for the teen. Click here to view.
The basketball games scheduled for Tuesday against Southern Wayne High School have been postponed till Wednesday. There will likely be a tribute to Eatmon before tip-off.
