A Goldsboro teacher turned himself in after a student accused him of misconduct. The Mount Olive Police Department said it received a report from the family of a Mount Olive Middle School.

According to the news release issued by the department Friday, the girl told her family that a teacher at her school behaved inappropriately.

Police did not say what the behavior entailed or if the behavior was directed at the girl.

After the student made the allegations, police detectives and the Wayne County school system investigated the incident.

Today, the teacher named in the incident turned himself in to Wayne County authorities.

Jerry Dortch, 44, is charged with one count of felony indecent liberties with a student.

He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on March 2.
