Harnett County deputy in crash

SANFORD Deputy Danny Jackson hit a tree near the intersections of McDougald and McCormick Roads outside Lillington.

The Harnett County Sheriff's Office said 26-year-old Jackson was headed to an alarm call when it happened.

Jackson was taken to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. His condition was listed as critical.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the wreck. The rainy weather may have been a factor.
