He was later found walking on a stretch of Bingham Drive by a resident who called 911 for help. The child had been crying and appeared to be lost.
Sheriff's K-9s were called to join the search, which led deputies to an adjoining neighborhood. They canvassed the neighborhood, going door to door asking neighbors if they knew the boy or his parents.
Upon locating the home, detectives discovered the child's caregiver was inside asleep and unaware the he was lost. The boy's mother is out of the state and had left her son in the care of a friend.
Sheriff's Detectives and the Cumberland County Department of Social Services are continuing to investigate to determine if any charges will be filed.
