Carolina's Ty Lawson may play

Lawson hasn't played since the Heels victory over Duke to close out the regular season.

Roy Williams was more specific, saying Lawson needs to pass two tests to take the court. One, he has to practice this afternoon at a level of intensity that Williams feels is acceptable. Second, his toe must not swell up this evening following practice.

Team trainers will check on Ty's toe around 11:30pm tonight.

Williams is calling it a "gametime decision".

Lawson has missed the past three games with a jammed right big toe. Williams said Lawson would need to practice Friday afternoon, then see if he experienced any swelling in the toe later in the evening.

Williams said Lawson would likely start if he's well enough to play against the eighth-seeded Tigers on Saturday.

North Carolina is the top seed in the South Regional.
