When deputies arrived, they say there was a man in his 20s sitting in the car. One deputy approached the vehicle and determined the man had some sort of weapon.
The man allegedly refused to get out of the car and the deputies did not approach the vehicle again. Instead, deputies said they observed him get out of the car and then go in and come back out of a mobile home.
Authorities say there was an altercation involving the man, which resulted in him being shot to death. Investigators say one of the deputies shot the man, but they have not said which one of the deputies is reponsible. The SBI is investigating.
The Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison released the dead man's name Wednesday afternoon. Investigators say he was 21-year-old Michael Harrison Andrews.
The two deputies involved were identified as Scott Earp and Jeffrey Minschew. Both have been with the department since the 1990s and are now on administrative leave.
